Career Day

002-professional-resume-cv-vol2-print-profile-vector

For those of our students who haven’t heard, its Career Day today!!! Grab that resume and head on down to our Activity Center where numerous Aerospace companies have gathered to educate you about the opportunities that await when you graduate. Additionally, there might be some internship opportunities involved 🙂 But, you will never know if you don’t get out there ans start the job search.

Many companies actually love to hire interns as they are good potential employees. An internship is for you to decide if you want to work in a particular side of the Aerospace industry and also for the corporation to evaluate you. If you do well enough you have a shot at an awesome job after graduation. If that doesn’t motivate you, here is something that will! Some internships or Co-ops provide college credits and you get paid to learn more about the industry/your future career.

Grab that resume and get going!!!!

Fall Fitness

fall fitnessNow is a great time to get outside and get fit!! The weather is just right and those pesky holidays with their fantastic food are coming up fast. So what is your fitness plan?

Well, if you aren’t the athletic type I might have a few use ful suggestions for you. I highly recommend running at least three times a week. I personally was never a fan of running but, in recent years I have really started to enjoy it. Running strengthens the heart and lungs while increasing your endurance all around. You don’t need to run super hard core to get a good workout so stick with a pace that is comfortable for you.

Another good workout type is to do a light workout on the days that you are not running. You can do pushups, crunches, bodybuilders, etc. or maybe yoga/Pilates. It is all up to you!

Perhaps the most important aspect of fitness is eating right. So to get started, give your fridge a makeover. Limit the alcoholic drinks to one or two per week, dump all of your unhealthy carbs ( aka white bread, bagels, pastries, pasta that isn’t whole grain), and stock up on vegetables, fruits, lean meats, whole grain breads, whole dairy products (this should be your one source of healthy fat intake), and of course your one favorite item of unhealthy food. My personal favorite is the pint size of Ben and Jerry’s Phish food, but again, remember to limit your intake!

I hope this helped, good luck with fall fitness everyone!!!

Overview of Electrical Engineering classes

Are you interested in studying Electrical Engineering or Computer Engineering? Well as a junior I am just starting to take all the core engineering classes at Embry-Riddle, Prescott. So if you decide to read further into this blog which I highly encourage, I will be covering what it’s like taking the first of many core Electrical Engineering classes.

Currently I am taking: Signal Processing, Electronic Device Design, Computer Science (C Programming) and Engineering Math. So why do these classes even mater? Engineering math is Essential the last math tools you need to to take the upper class Electrical Engineering courses. so far we have covered Fourier Series, which I have provided a link to information about if you click Here

.     As far as Signals goes, this class has struck my interest the most. I have so far learned about sampling, which is a necessary process for converting continuous (real time) time signals to digital signals. Learning about this and the process of amplitude/frequency modulation is pretty fun considering there are so many applications.

Too quickly sum up Electronic Device Design, the name says it all. Basic Op Amp applications in designing an amplifier. Applications and design of Transistors and more to come.

While taking these classes are demanding, don’t fear, by the time you come to your junior year you will be well prepared for the task at hand. The best way to keep up with everything is staying motivated, and enjoying what you learn. If you don’t enjoy it then you may consider studying another topic or learning in a way that is enjoyable to you. If you have any further questions that I can answer please feel free to comment or email me and thanks for reading.

Update on Junior Year

may-junior-year-be-ever-in-your-favor

As some of you may know, I am a Junior here in Embry Riddle Prescott 🙂 So far this year I have really been enjoying my coursework. A lot of my professors are more trusting in me to get my work done so they don’t collect homework anymore, and for those professors that do collect homework, I seem to be doing pretty well.

I think my favorite class this semester is Structures 1, it is definitely really cool to see how all the past two years of classes applies to the design of an aircraft. My midterm for that class is next week, and I’m nervous but, I am sure it will go well 🙂

Other than that, I am just doing the usual working (and still being broke #collegelife), going to classes, being secretary of an engineering society, and of course my favorite being a POC in AFROTC!!!

Midterms Already?

midterms-440x356

We are headed into the fourth week of the Fall semester and round one of midterms is here or at least almost here for most of us. Yet another semester is flying by!! It is so strange to think about how fast it is going and that in a few short years most of us will have graduated and moved on to new exciting places.

I am sure High School has gone that way for our prospective students as well. One day you are in orientation and the next you are standing at graduation giving a speech about the past four years. Crazy isn’t it?

Well no matter how fast it goes by, and how stressful those exams can be just remember to have fun and enjoy the journey. Good luck on those midterms everyone!!!!

Sedona Trip

Over the 3 day weekend I went up to Sedona and Jerome AZ to have a look around at the beauties of this state! Sedona is only an hour and a half drive from campus and it makes for a perfect day trip to see a new place. The area is gorgeous for hiking and the views of the natural Red Rock throughout the town of Sedona are breathtaking.

On the way back to Prescott you will most likely pass through Jerome, this town is crazy awesome!!!! It is literally dug into the side of a mountain, half the houses are hanging over the edge. I personally loved it but i would be afraid of living there because I am honestly not that great with heights lol. But, if you are thinking of visiting Prescott AZ, take advantage of being out here and visit these extraordinary places as well!!
